Fashion Feigning

Oh just surfing through the web because I woke up at 8 am and made myself a cup of coffee and couldn't go back to bed. Besides the fashion feigning, I did a few productive things. Sent my resumes to a few agencies, applied for a few jobs and followed up on a few connections. All this I must confess is to cope with the fact that I let an opportunity slip through my fingers because I choose to put it off. This is how I compensate for my short comings.

We all have our ways of coping. Some more toxic than others. We all need a way to "deal," just let it be fashion my dear.

I've been a fan of Balmain for the last few years. I gotta say that 2ne1, the 4-member sensation girl-group from Korea, put me onto this designer. There's is something about the simple line and cut off-set by luxurious beading, embroidery, studs with bold patterns. There's a few Balmain designs that I would die to have in my closet. But you know what that means?! I will be on the hunt for a bargain look-a-like. This is what I do best.

Forever 21 X Sanrio: Hello Kitty Forever

I have a really bad habit of skimming through Forever 21's website at least a dozen times a day. More just for the sake of browsing but every now and then, amidst the array of blown up and blown out trends, there are pieces that are worth taking a second look at and for the price worth adding to your closet. Good job Forever21 and Sanrio. Kawaii.

Usually I am not a fan of wearing any clothing (except underwear) with Hello Kitty splattered all over it. For little girls yes...it is just absolutely adorable not so much for grown adults. This collaboration does have something worthy. The print automatically makes me reference Givenchy, Alexander McQueen, but definitely a wink towards Versace. The black and white print with Hello Kitty amidst its design is tastefully incorporated and I love the graphic-ness of it. Very bold, not too busy, just enough. I love it even more because it would look absolutely appropriate with some sneakers or ankle boots with some tights (perfect for New England's weather right now). I am fond of things that carries the high fashion vibe with street appeal.

If it wasn't for Hello Kitty's trademark and just a stand alone print for these pieces it would be worthy to stand next to the high fashion line (well, I forgot about material and craftsmanship but on visual appeal alone its good enough). Knowing me, I prolly would end up incorporating one of these pieces and actually wear it to the club lol. I remember getting yelled at by my friend, "Why you always wearing t-shirts to the club?!" Mix these with solid pieces, it will definitely work. Hence that is why I LOVE street fashion. Incorporating whatever and making it work. High end labels with brands from stores that the everyday people shop at. Making it look just right, effortless. Just worth taking a second glance and making others glance twice. Fashion that's practical, that's my take on it.

Available at Forever21:  Hello Kitty Filigree Print Jacket $27.80 (here), Hello Kitty Filigree Print Leggings $17.80 (here) and Hello Kitty Filigree Print $13.80 (here).

Current Trend: Wedged Sneakers

First off, I would like to mention that I adore sneakers but over the years I've been a little bit more discriminate. And I am also a little bit behind on posting on this trend.

Dunks, Air Maxes, Jordans, Adidas, Nike SBs...I have them all. Not only do I love sneaker, I really do love shoes in general. But like the rest of the "47 Percent-er", I've resorted to searching high and low for the best deals and finds or save up for months for a good purchase. Can't be throwing cash at these shoes like that when you have bills to pay (ah the constant battle of being a responsible adult.) But when something is worth it and I keep dreaming about it, I do save, save, save away for it.

The wedged sneakers has been making a place for themselves on the fashion scene and especially with the introduction of Isabel Marant's Bekett wedged sneakers. And I do quite fancy them. With age, I sometime wonder if walking around with sneakers makes me less "adult." Another day, another post for that question. My taste just shifted a bit towards the fashionable, the sleekness, the more polished look. I still love to be comfortable.

Top: Christian Louboutin's Louis Women's Flat Spikes $995 (here

Bottom: Isabel Marant's Bekett $665 (similar here)

I shall forgo the above and settle for Zara's Studded Sneaker ($99.90). It gives me the lift with the casual yet polished look of a sneaker and the studs just gives it an edge, definitely not too boring. If Christian Louboutin's spiked sneakers decided to have kids with Isabel Marant's Bekett you would get Zara's Studded Sneaker at a fraction of the price.

Comfort Food

There's that one dish that makes you feel warm and fuzzy in the inside and like everything is going to be alright. Like being cradled in the arms of the one you trust and love. That one dish for is the tapioca dessert in coconut milk with bananas (or taro or corn), served nice and warm. Mmmmm delicious and comforting.

Big Bang Galaxy World Tour 2012

Sorry all for the very long hiatus. Life just have a tendency to take you off course but now I'm back.

This past weekend I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to see my all-time favorite Korean pop group perform, BIGBANG. I feel so special thinking that I got to witness them on their first ever US appearance (well, besides LA boo!).

Good things do happen to good people. We tried getting great seats when the tickets first went on sale for the New Jersey dates but even when we try to buy right on the dot, we were only able to get MEZZANINE seatings (nosebleed seatings), but of course we are die-hard fans and begrudgingly took them anyways. We sucked it up, made hotel and car reservations and headed out. But an opportunity fell into our laps and we were able to get upgrades, which equaled to the actual ticket prices for floor seatings EEEEEK!!! We went from Section 129 nosebleed sections to Section 9 Row 19 (our transaction might have been a 'lil SKETCHY shall we say but who cares lol).

50% of an experience is the company and I love my "entourage": ML, the sis LB and LindaDevastation

Concert Date: Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 Prudential Center, Newark Jersey

The next day, stopped by a Korean Food Court in Ktown in NYC for lunch (ahhbsolutely underated! Awesome food for great prices), souvenir shopping, mini photo shoot and some beauty products.

OOTD for Big Bang Galaxy World Tour
(Bees in the trap, in reference to my hat. I'm pretty clever huh? lol)
